How much does the registration cost?

MACE is a non-profit event, organized by the Astronomical Society of Višnjan this year. Considering that many participants are self-financed amateur astronomers, the organizers try to keep costs as low as possible, yet providing an interesting and diversified social program. This can be best achieved by tying up a package with everything included. On the other side some people might want to choose individually e.g. restaurant, food. For this reason we will follow a hybrid strategy this year. Here are the numbers and facts:

Registration fee is 75 EUR (appr. 100 USD currently)

Registration fee includes:

• Dinner on friday evening in a typical Istrian restaurant (konoba)
• Dinner on saturday evening in another typical Istrian restaurant (konoba)
• Barbeque dinner on sunday evening on Tićan hill
• Wine degustation on saturday afternoon at a local winemaker
• Snacks and drinks during coffee breaks
• Guided tour of Tićan on friday
• Guided tour of Višnjan on saturday
• All lectures
• MACE2010 t-shirt
• Proceedings
• Shuttle service hotel - conference place (details see lodging page)

Registration fee does not include:

• Lunch on friday and saturday
• Excursion on sunday

We think that in this way all participants will be in one place in the evenings, giving everyone the chance to meet and discuss until late into the night. During lunch break (on friday and saturday) however everyone is free to take lunch where desired (restaurant, pizzeria, panificio etc.).

Excursion on Sunday

If you stay for the entire weekend (and we really do recommend it) you might want to join us on the full-day excursion on sunday. It will bring us to several interesting locations on the Istrian peninsula. One of the destinations for instance will be the beautiful Town of Rovinj. We will hire a coach/bus for the excursion therefore please let us know in advance, e.g. in the registration message, if you plan to join us on the sunday excursion.

The cost for the full-day sunday excursion is 50 EUR (appr. 65 USD currently) and it includes the lunch in a fine restaurant and all entrance fees.

How to register?

To avoid unnecessary bank fees for wire transfer and other payment methods, we suggest that every participant pays the registration fee (and optionally the fee for the excursion) in cash upon arrival at the meeting place. You will be instantly issued a receipt and your name badge. This can be done on thursday evening or on friday morning before the meeting officially starts.
